I’ve decided to stay here at edublogs. After a comment by Graham Wagner, I spent some time thinking about my move and decided to stay here and post.
It’s been a long week - I’ve been working building houses and painting. In my life before education I owned and ran a painting business. It started out when I was hired to work a summer by the school division and most of it was painting. That led to a job the next summer when I left home and was looking for something. For the next 10 years I would spend summers, then all year long, painting. Eventually, the whole adventure turned into a business where I had a partner and 10 employees. This was all taking place while I was going to university. Finally, when after I had decided to get an education degree, I knew I was going to have make a decision about my career. I sold the company to one of the employees and moved on to educational wonders. However, I’ve always kept my “core” equipment and in the past years I’ve done painting in the various houses we’ve owned and over this year I’ve been doing more painting as entrepreneur in our small community tries to get a house building business going. It appears, things are going to take off. As of now, there are 6 houses on order to be done before January 2008. I’ve reinvested in some more painting equipment - trying to buy a paint sprayer to cut down on the time it takes me to do some of the work.
Now, this all relates to my thoughts today because as I get back into the painting I realize that it takes me a bit longer to get things done and, for some unknown reason, I’m not recovering from my 12 hour work days like I remember - (might be related to the age factor although I am denying this vehemently!). Having said this, the person I work for is sticking with me knowing that I’ll work things out and get things done in the time I have said. Just like James has said here at Edublogs. A few weeks ago, when the site was having some problems with getting things changed and the site was down for a few long days, I decided to move and try another provider. However, after some reflection - during those long 12 hour days - I’ve decided that I’m going to stick with edublogs and run the two sites. Eventually, I will look at hosting my own site but that will be much later and may not affect what I do here.
In my experience, if someone is providing you with great service, you have to stick with them through a few rough times. I’ll stay here and continue to write about educational topics and offer my ideas and thoughts about what is happening in the edusphere. So, no need to change your RSS now. I’m staying. Thanks to Graham for his comment on staying put. It made me do some thinking and to reconsider, especially after that last few days when, due to heat and other factors, I haven’t finished what I thought I would and, with the heat yesterday, ended up not getting any painting done which will mean I won’t be finished until next week, which pushes back a few other things but will not ruin the project. Stay tuned!
