David, your energy and passion are examples for all teachers. I agree we need to be building networks that work together to develop and assist one another to become better educators. Thanks for the comments and your last post was great!

Vicki and Karen, Thanks for the responses. I know that we need to continue to spread the word and help teachers to use the tools that are available. Vicki, your work and energy is incredible and you are an example for all of us! Karen, your work with special needs students is a model for all of us. As David said "It is the collaboration of teachers that will change education." This is where it starts!

Vicki and Kelly,
Did you hear about the Rome Reborn project that was just announced today? Now that 3D digital simulation technology WILL change education! This is huge. I just blogged about it.

Kelly,
Do you need an assistive technology specialist in your district? I would leave my consulting practice to work for someone like you!! And I would want to have these types of discussions as a district that challenge accepted thought, reframe questions in new ways and expect more from your educational staff.
I wish my district was up to the challenge.

Wow, I love David's Quote "It isn't technology...that will change education..instead is the collaboration of teachers..." WOW! What an incredible thought.

Thank you Kelley for your increasing voice in the blogosphere and bringing to bear our thoughts on important issues.

Kelly,
Like you, I found this past week much too busy to contribute meaningfully to the Future of Education Conference. It is a shame that this conference would be held during such a busy time of year for teachers.
I think that you are right, it is indeed "time to reframe the conversation around a learning continuum".
As I mention in a recent post, 'I have realized over the past few months that it isn't technology per se that will change education. Instead, it is collaboration of teachers using best practice, and of students interacting with us and each other, that will truly and meaningfully change education. Technology, such as web2.0 tools, will help make the process easier, and speed the process up.'
Imagine how much easier our jobs would be if only the media were not fraught with stories from the dark side of internet use/abuse. It is like they are stuck staring at the Wicked Witch of the West in a fairytale and can't see the hero's journey.
We can and will make things better! It is administrators like you, who know that the world isn't just 'Kansas anymore', that will help pave the way to a more 'yellow-brick' view of the internet highway and the tools it has to offer.
Enjoy the last few weeks of school- celebrate your successes and the successes of your students! As for the summer... enjoy the time with your family, there really is, "No Place Like Home!" :-)
